A camping holiday in the south of France where the sun shines 300 days a year? Camping L’Oasis lives up to its name: it is a real oasis of peace, complete with palm trees. The camp site is on the French south coast, not far from Perpignan and just north of the border with Catalonia in Spain. Within walking distance of the beach at the lively resort of Le Barcarès in an area with not just sea but with the foothills of the Pyrenees and a 7000 hectare ‘Lac Marin' near Leucate: an inland sea separated from the Mediterranean by just a small strip of land and headlands. So it's a wonderful area for watersports! And also for those who enjoy beaches, fishing villages and resorts.
At L'Oasis camp site in France you can simply do nothing around the swimming pool under the shade of palm trees. The main feature of this lovely leisure pool is without doubt the 33 metre long water chute. The camp site has lovely spacious camping pitches, partly in shade, partly in the sun. The miniclub organises daily activities for children but a lot of activities are also organised for adults. For those who want it, because you can always opt for relaxation, you can play jeu de boules or barbecue with friends. And this is the place to try regional specialities.
The beautiful building complex, which was built last year, has a restaurant, bar, shop and a stage for the entertainment.
Those who want to get out and about will be pushed for time. There are numerous Roman monasteries and dozens of medieval castles: the Catharian fortresses. This area is known as the Pays Cathare. You can go on a wildlife safari in Sigean and Europe's biggest go-cart track is close by! There are knights' festivals and Port-Leucate has a Parcours Aventure, a kind of obstacle course with spectacular attractions for children from 3 years old. But northern Spain is only 60 km from this part of Languedoc-Roussillon. In brief, l’Oasis is the ideal place for a family holiday, especially with younger children.
