The La Rivière campsite lies in the valley of the Vézère (a tributary of the Dordogne) in the splendid Périgord Noir stretch of the Dordogne. The campsite is at the heart of an area with prehistoric caves and 10 minutes away from the centre of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. The campsite has four stars, which ensures that you will have everything you need during your camping holiday.
The campsite has a heated swimming pool with toddlers' pool, restaurant with delicious regional dishes (and delicious wine to match), a bar, vegetable shop, breakfast service, sports fields, washing and ironing points, hiking routes, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding, library, WiFi in the reception area, canoes for hire and direct access to the river. There are a number of toilet blocks with hairdryers, baby changing facilities and disabled access. Refrigerators are available to hire. In the high season, there is a full entertainment programme, which includes children's shows, music performances, potholing and climbing excursions.
The area is fantastic. The excellent medieval town of Sarlat is a must, as well as the fortified town of Domme. You can also visit one of the many castles in the area: Castelnaud (that of Josephine Baker), Beynac and Jumilhac. You must not miss a trip to a copy of the caves of Lascaux and the Grotte du Grand Roc.
